It's that time of year again, Crafty Ladies sale time! November 2009 marks the Fourth Annual Crafty Ladies Holiday Sale. Once again the Warren family of Forest Grove has offered up their home (the Historic Macrum Mansion) to us for our sale. This was the location of our 2007 Holiday Sale. We can't thank the Warrens enough for this fabulous venue for our event! It's so fun to display our goods in this setting and the customers just love to get a peek into this beautiful home.

The Macrum House

Just thought I'd give a little history of the beautiful setting for this year's Crafty Ladies Holiday Sale. The house at 2225 12th Avenue in Forest Grove is known as the Macrum House.

Macrum came to Oregon in 1870 as an educator, financier and lawyer. He first settled in Oregon City, where he served for three years as principal of Oregon City Seminary. During this time, he read law and later practiced in Portland in the firm of Johnson, McCown & Macrum. In 1883, Mr. Macrum became manager of the newly established Willamette Savings Bank, which grew rapidly. A wealthy and successful businessman, Mr. Macrum remained in the city but built the beautiful Macrum House, which at that time (1888) was on the outskirts of Forest Grove. There, his children could attend Pacific University and he could visit his family on weekends.

By 1910 however, the house was vacant and someone was paid to live in it and take care of it. During the Depression it was sold for $600. Later, the elaborate leaded skylight was sold for $500 and the gaping hole was left open. In subsequent years, the house was considered to be haunted. Twice during World War I and in 1925 the Macrum House served as a hospital. Then in 1950 it was purchased for use as a preschool ("The Castle School"), which had been operated by Marti Warner. The current owners Allen and Valerie Warren purchased the Macrum House in 1997. They have made many renovations, including a new porch and roof, sewer system, driveway, finished the basement and totally redid the kitchen, two baths and one bedroom along with building the garage (the carriage house in 1999). The renovations continue...

We decided to take a break in 2008. It's hard work being a Crafty Lady! But now we're all rested and ready to go for 2009! See you November 20th and 21st!

2007 - The Third Annual Crafty Ladies Holiday Sale

November of 2007 brought us our 3rd Annual Crafty Ladies Holiday Sale. This year we changed the venue to the Historic Macrum Mansion in Forest Grove. Thank you to the Warren Family for letting us invade your home for a few days!

This fabulous historic home was the perfect setting for our crafty goods. We had the most vendors ever and were able to fill the large porch, entry and two other rooms in the home with all of our fantastic items. The Warren's also own one of the Antique Stores in town, so lots of beautiful antiques were included in the sale.

2007 - Our First Ever Spring Crafty Ladies Sale

April of 2007 brought us our very first Spring Crafty Ladies Sale. Crafty Linda suggested we give this a try, and Linda's sister Kathy was kind enough to host our event in her beautiful home in Beaverton.

Our very first sale was in the Fall of 2005. We were not yet known as "The Crafty Ladies". This sale was called the "Creative Celebrations Boutique" (the brain child of Beverly & Alicia). Our very own Beverly opened up her home to us and we enjoyed a successful event with the help of several other crafty vendors.
